Laxman's Century Guides India To Victory


VVS Laxman's India led smoothly convincing five wicket victory over the three game series 1-1 on Day 5, the third and final test at P Sara Oval, Colombo, on Saturday.

Indian batsmen negotiated the terms of an excellent place on the last day of the trip to 258 for five in 68.3 overs pitch Spinners much help.

Laxman who are struggling with back injury, finished with a superb innings unbeaten 103 from 149 balls with 12 boundaries hit. He hit a runner for most of his innings, but his batting average against the Spinners was pretty magical when his influence wristy good pictures.

Suresh Raina and influence as he hit a solid 41 from 45 balls, ending the game with a huge six over long on style. The two batsmen shared 102 runs unbroken stand of 87 wicket in six balls for his team to take home.

Sachin Tendulkar, who fell to 18 short leg of a patient Randiv scored 54 before he was taken down legside Randiv off. The veteran, who three boundaries 122 balls, added 109 runs in 30 overs for the fifth wicket with Laxman to return to India to bring the race.
