Facebook and Twitter war for users

Earlier this month social media site Twitter, and Apple tech powerhouse together to make tweeting easier for iPhone, iPod touch users.
Apple owners will now be able to tweet directly from your camera, photos, maps, YouTube and Safari apps.
Twitter rival Facebook - partly owned by Microsoft - not expected to have similar functions to produce the iPhone.
Google now provides five more Indian languages

WASHINGTON: Internet search engine giant Google announced Tuesday the expansion of its translation to include five Indian languages - Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu - and so increase the range to a potential half million inhabitants.
"From now on it the linguistic diversity of the Indian subcontinent with Google Translate now supports five new experimental Alpha languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Tamil and Telugu," said Ashish Venugopal, a researcher at Google.

Airtel Announces New High Speed Broadband Plans

Bharti Airtel has announced the launch of new broadband plans, with a minimum of 2 Mbps broadband speed in the top 10 cities, and from 1 Mbps to exchange for other cities across the country. 2Mbps these plans will be offered in Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune. For all other markets in its service areas in the country the new plans offer a minimum broadband speed of 1Mbps.
Google to digitise British Library collection

Thousands of books and papers of the British Library collection will soon be made available online through a new partnership with Google.
Google and the British Library will collaborate on the digitization of 250,000 out-of-copyright texts from the 18th and 19th centuries.
The British Library digital collection is expected to increase from 1.25 m to 50 elements in 2020 as it aims to find new ways for its collection accessible to scholars and members of the public, often free. Scanning texts without the help of Google's library would cost millions of pounds.

Nortel patents' bid: It's Apple vs Google

PORTLAND: Apple Inc. has joined the bidders for a multitude of patents from Nortel Networks Corp., the bankrupt manufacturer of phone equipment, two people familiar with knowledge of the matter said.
Nortel, based in Mississauga, Ontario, said yesterday received "a considerable degree of interest" in the technology portfolio and the auction for one week to 27 June slowdown in demand to meet. People familiar with Apple's plan would not be identified because the bidding process is not public.
