Sony movies are pulled from Netflix

Sony movies are pulled from Netflix

The film about the legal battle surrounding the origins of Facebook is a Sony Pictures film and was due to debut on Netflix this month. Pursuant to a contractual matter, and all the other films of the studio is no longer available on Netflix.

Netflix get rights to Sony movies not from the studio, but from Starz, pay television channel owned by Liberty Media. As part of the deal to Sony products on its network, Starz has also streaming rights and signed an agreement on the distribution of these rights with Netflix.

But the contract with Sony Starz subscriber has a ceiling of Netflix. Home Entertainment company now has more than 23.5 million subscribers, with the hood up. Starz pulled the film from Netflix, so it was not in danger of violating the agreement with Sony.

In a statement, said Starz: "All parties are working hard to solve the problem and the movies back to Netflix members."

Netflix has no comment, but a message posted on his website says that the film was pulled due to "issue a temporary contract between Sony and Starz."
